Importing Data from a .mat File

Twin Fabrica lets you import external datasets in .mat format, seamlessly integrating pre-processed or experimental data into your project. The import process includes a file preview feature, giving you full control over the data you import.

Follow this step-by-step guide to import variables from a .mat file into your Twin Fabrica workspace.

  • 1. Open the Import Interface
  • Navigate to the PROJECT tab in Twin Fabrica.In the Import section, click MAT files to open the External Data window where you can manage imports and variables.

  • 2. Select the .mat File
  • In the External Data window, click the Select file input field.Browse through your local directories in the file browser that opens.Select the .mat file containing your data.

  • 3. Load and Preview File Contents
  • Click the Open button.Twin Fabrica will display all available variables for review.Note: This is only a preview—no data is loaded into the project yet.

  • 4. Review Variable Compatibility
  • The File content section shows all variables in your .mat file.Each variable entry includes its name and type.A green checkmark indicates that Twin Fabrica supports the variable types and can safely import them.

  • 5. Import Selected Variables
  • Click the right arrow button to import your variables.This transfers the selected variables from preview to your project workspace.The imported variables become available for modeling, calibration, and simulation.

  • 6. Verify Imported Variables
  • Find your imported variables in the Loaded variables panel on the right side of the External Data window.This panel shows all active project variables and lets you inspect, edit, or remove them.

  • 7. Confirm Variables in the Project Workspace
  • Expand the Workspace node in the left navigation tree.Your newly imported variables will appear here, confirming their integration into your Twin Fabrica project.
