Rename variables
Renaming Variables in Twin Fabrica
Twin Fabrica lets you rename imported variables at any time. This feature helps improve readability, align with project naming conventions, and clarify data sources. The renaming process is quick and built right into the External Data panel.
Here's how to rename any loaded variable in your project:
- 1. Open the External Data Panel
- Open the External Data panel
- Navigate to the PROJECT tab and select the MAT files button under the Import section
- Here you'll find both import options and your loaded variables
- 2. Select the Variable to Rename
- Locate your variable in the Loaded variables list on the right side
- Click the variable you want to rename
- 3. Click the Rename Button
- With your variable selected, click the Rename button in the lower-right corner
- A rename dialog box will open
- 4. Enter the New Name
- Review your variable's current name in the dialog
- Enter the new name and click OK
- Make sure the new name follows your project's naming conventions
- 5. Confirm the Update
- Check the variable list for the new name
- The updated name should appear in the Loaded variables list
- 6. Check the Logger
- Look for a confirmation message in the logger panel
- This verifies that your change was successful
- 7. Verify in the Workspace
- Open the Workspace node in the left navigation tree
- Your renamed variable will appear in the list, showing the change is applied throughout the project
