Material library
Using the Material Library in Twin Fabrica
Twin Fabrica includes a built-in Material Library that simplifies material setup. Instead of manually entering thermal properties, you can select from predefined materials that include essential parameters—thermal conductivity, specific heat capacity, and mass density.
This section explains how to access the Material Library, import materials, and prepare them for simulation.
1. Access the Material Library
To open the Material Library:
- Navigate to the Materials window in the Twin Fabrica interface.
- Click the two-dot icon in the window's bottom bar.
This opens a compact panel with the material selection interface.
2. Explore the Library Interface
The Material Library window appears as a floating panel.
It offers quick access to common engineering materials, each ready for thermal simulations.
3. Select a Material from the List
The library window contains a drop-down menu of available materials.
Each material includes predefined thermal properties suitable for most simulations:
- Thermal conductivity
- Specific heat capacity
- Mass density
4. Review and Edit Material Properties (Optional)
After selection, you can review and modify the material's default properties.
You can adjust values if your simulation requires custom specifications from experimental data or manufacturers.
If the defaults suit your needs, proceed to the next step.
5. Add the Material to Your Project
When ready:
- Click the ADD button in the library window.
- The material will appear in your project's Materials tree.
6. Close the Library Window
After adding the material, close the Material Library panel.
The new material—like Aluminum in this example—will now show in your project's Materials tree.
7. Edit Material Labels or Values
If needed, access the newly added material from the Materials tree to:
- Customize the labels for each thermal property.
- Modify the values if you need further adjustments.
8. Assign the Material to Geometry
The material needs to be assigned to geometrical entities to complete setup.
Follow these steps:
- Open the Entity Tree.
- Select the geometry parts that should use the material.
- Use the checkboxes to apply the material.
This process ensures your model is properly defined for simulation, using reliable data from the built-in library.
