How to Manage Geometrical Entities in Twin Fabrica

This guide explains how to work with geometrical entities in Twin Fabrica, including managing surfaces and volumes and performing actions like hiding or enabling/disabling them.

Steps to Manage Geometrical Entities

  1. View geometrical entities: When you load a new mesh file, all geometrical entities appear automatically in the left tree menu. Use these entities to assign material properties, apply boundary conditions, and define heat sources.
  2. Understand the classification: Geometrical entities fall into two main categories:
    • Surfaces (2D elements)
    • Volumes (3D elements)
  3. Identify surfaces and volumes: Understanding the difference between 2D surfaces and 3D volumes helps you manage geometry more effectively.
  4. Enable or disable entities: The tree view shows entities as either ENABLED or DISABLED:
    • ENABLED entities are included in the project setup.
    • DISABLED entities are excluded from the simulation process.
  5. Select an entity: Click any entity in the left tree menu to highlight it in the geometry view.
  6. Use the context menu: Right-click an entity in the tree menu to see available actions.
  7. Hide an entity: Choose Hide from the context menu to remove an entity from view. Hidden entities appear in red in the tree structure. Note: Hidden entities—unlike DISABLED ones—are still included when you click IMPORT.
  8. Restore 3D visualization: Press Esc to return to the 3D view after using menus or context options.
